Meet our team

Linda Turcotte

TEAM CAPTAIN

Linda has been participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk since 2012. That year she was part of team Every Step for Emma. Linda‘s sister-in-law Maurine Turcotte was the captain of the team and organized it within two weeks prior to the Walk to honor the memory of her friend Tina’s daughter Emma who had passed away at the age of 9 from neuroblastoma a month before. Linda became a Pacesetter (minimum funds raised $1,500) that first year and has been a Pacesetter ever since.

Sadly on April 22, 2013, Maurine lost her 6 year battle with breast cancer. Linda stayed with the Every Step for Emma team that year, but in 2014 formed her own team to honor Maurine’s memory, Maurine & Patrick’s Troopers.

Team Maurine and Patrick’s Troopers has raised over $138,000 since 2014 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Their goal for 2022 is to exceed $150,000 in total funds raised.  Dr. Harold Burstein, Breast Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was Maurine’s oncologist.  He is both a clinician and a researcher at Harvard. Dr. Burstein is the recipient of funds raised by the team to help with his research for finding a cure for breast cancer.

Jan Demetriou

TEAM MEMBER

Jan is one of the OG’s of the Walk Team! She has been on everyone since 2014. She has walked with her son Tim since the beginning and several years ago recruited her other son Greg and husband Dr. Steve. Jan walks in memory of her brother Patrick who passed away from Adenocarcinoma of the Parotid Gland (Head and Neck cancer). Pat served in the Air Force National Guard, retiring in 2009 after 32 years of service. He continued to work as a civilian for them until 11/1/13. Not only did Pat continue to work during his illness, but he also trained and became a volunteer EMT for his local rescue squad. Pat was extremely proud of his military service as well as his time on the rescue squad. Patrick lost his fight on November 30, 2013, at 54 years old.

Jan and Linda have been friends for over 20 years.

Two images of Jon stacked on top of eachoether. The First is a smiling headshot as he makes a peace sign. The below is him walking.

Jon Wallace

TEAM MEMBER

Jon Wallace will be participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk for a second year. The reason he participates is that we have all been affected by cancer one way or the other. His mom was a breast cancer and skin cancer survivor. Jon believes that the Jimmy Fund is a fantastic organization that really helps patients and their families. This will be his first Boston Walk and he is looking forward to getting out there and enjoying an awesome day while supporting a great cause!.

Jann Bonner

TEAM MEMBER

Jann joined the team in 2015 and has been with us ever since. Jann has done an excellent job fundraising for the team and is always supportive of our team fundraising events. Jann walks in memory of her friend Cindy who passed away from cancer in 2015.

Paulette Wilbur

TEAM MEMBER

Paulette joined the team in 2015 and has walked almost every year since. Paulette started walking to honor her brother-in-law, an NFL referee who was diagnosed and treated for cancer. It was a rough road for him, but he got back to the football field and was a ref in the 2015 Super Bowl and Paulette was in attendance!

Ernie Turcotte

TEAM MEMBER

Ernie will be participating in his third Walk and first time on the Boston course! He walks not only in memory of Maurine, but his good friend Mike has lost his battle to cancer in November 2020. Ernie had a great cheering squad!

Dave Chalifour

DEDICATED ALUMNI

Dave Chalifour is one of the OG’s of the Walk team. He hung up his sneakers in 2020, but during his tenure, raised a lot of money for the team and at one point had his entire family on the team. We are grateful for the years he gave the team and the Cornhole fundraisers he ran every year! Thank you Dave.
